Pam Slocum

Pam Slocum is from Iowa where, except for the winters, everything is green and lush. She graduated from St. Mary's University.

She is well-known in San Antonio for her work in theatre, having appeared on various stages, winning several San Antonio Globe Awards for her acting. But throughout her life she has always drawn and painted. She studied art at Central Missouri State College, SAC, OLLU and with private teachers in San Antonio. She works in acrylic and paints plants, domestic scenes and still life.

Let's let Pam tell you more about herself:

"Some people are lucky enough to be able to spend much of their time and energy with people they love and things they think are beautiful. Then, if they happen to be an artist, they allow themselves to be vulnerable. They share the things they find beautiful or touching by looking closely at them, then declaring them as clearly and profoundly as they can manage.

Whether through music, visual art, theatre, or movement, when an artist shares themselves, what they find beautiful, humorous, dear or even just intense, wherever it is occurs in their life, and they do it with vigor and faith in their vision, they enhance the lives of any who see or hear it. It is sharing love, folks. It is allowing another to see the world through your eyes momentarily. That is a movement toward compassion, wisdom and joy!

Because I am one of those lucky people with beautiful things around me, that is what I paint: things right close to me, vegetables and flowers from my garden, bushes and trees in my yard, things around my house that I see and use every day."
