Michael Roberts
Michael Roberts came to San Antonio in 1994 to attend Trinity University and he never left. He worked at the University for eight years after graduating and then made a major career change. He decided to follow his passion for art and craft and founded a furniture business in 2006, switching from a full-time career in Information Technology to a full-time career in woodworking. He constructed a mix of freestanding and built-in furniture, employing woodworking skills he had acquired 35 years earlier as a boy helping his parents remodel an old colonial home. Michael built countless pieces of furniture, refining his design and craftsmanship skills every step of the way.
In his time away from his work, he enjoys traveling with his wife and daughter, spending time with his extended family, and taking photos. Roberts is an avid backcountry hiker and canoeist, always looking forward to his next adventure. And that adventure seems to be as a photographic artist. As Roberts himself tells us:

"My self-taught photographic journey began roughly 20 years ago as digital single lens reflex (DSLR) cameras were entering the consumer market. I bought my first DSLR in 2003 and began shooting anything and everything. The instant feedback on the rear screen of the camera was my teacher. For years, I faithfully reproduced landscapes and macro scenes. It wasn’t until fairly recently that I began to pre-visualize images and use the camera as a tool to execute that vision. My recent work is predominantly high contrast black and white."
