A desire to paint in France was simmering and a 1998 Calendar of 'The Most Beautiful Villages in Provence' was the catalyst that sent Barbara Rallo to those same villages to sketch and paint 'en plein air', something she has done annually for 25 years now.

Today, Rallo's paintings are an intimate connection to the rich architecture of Europe, the beautiful colors and scents of Provence, and the incredible friends and other artists she met in those yearly sojourns to France.

Barbara is an accomplished watercolorist; one of her French sketches won the 2016 June/July Sketchbook Award from the PleinAir Magazine Salon and she was the winner of the 2014 Plein Air Easton Quick Draw 'Best Non-Competition Artist' Award. Her work has been accepted into national shows in Texas and Louisiana.

Barbara Rallo is the founder and coordinator/co-chair of EnPleinAirTEXAS, one of the premier plein air competitions in the United States; it is hosted by the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts. This extraordinary international juried competition will celebrate its tenth successful year in San Angelo this October.

In addition, Barbara is an active participant in PASA (Plein Air San Angelo), an artist’s group she helped form 11 years ago, and she is a board member for the San Angelo Cultural Affairs Council and Symphony. She has shown her paintings in the Stribling Art Extravaganza since 2002. She served on the Texas Tech University System Public Arts Committee and has been a judge for several area painting competitions.

As a mentor, 'encourager/cheerleader', and teacher, Barbara's desire to help friends and strangers embrace their artistic passions keeps her engaged with people across the world.
