Lilli Pell
Lilli Pell is an artist with an affinity for the landscape of her native Texas but whose interest in landscapes and the natural world extends to everyplace she travels- locales as diverse as New England, the South, and the Southwest. Lilli received her MA in Visual Arts at the University of Houston at Clear Lake and has continued to study with admired teachers in classes and workshops- honing her craft while retaining her own interpretation of subjects and style.
Although landscapes and farm animals are her primary interest she also enjoys painting other challenging subjects, such as portraits and still life. She is in her twenty-third year of studying painting and knows this will be a lifetime endeavor- frustrating, fascinating and fantastic. The master paintings she sees in museum exhibits and the high resolution images provided online by great museums and galleries are wonderful sources of inspiration. She enjoys teaching and finds the interaction with her students and excellent way to refine and develop her own painting skills.
Among Lilli's influences have been Nicolai Fechin, Joaquin Sorrola and contemporary artists Richard Schmid, Scott Christensen and Kathryn Stats. Lilli's paintings are in the collections of individuals and corporations across the country; she has been described by these collectors as having amazing skill at achieving beautiful light and color in her works.
