Sharon Marquez
Sharon's love for the arts has come from world experiences that have shaped her life and her art.
She was born, raised and educated in Colorado and after circumstances have led her to all corners of the U.S. and Europe she now resides in Western Colorado. This is where the wooded areas are home to a plethora of colorful wildlife and landscapes.
The love of the outdoor environment has led Sharon to plein air painting in Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Minnesota, Maine and Europe. Plein air painting is painting on location to be able to capture the light and the atmosphere in true life. This is a technique used by the impressionists that led their movement of capturing the light in the 19th century.
For Sharon, painting has become a passion and a catalyst to making lifelong friends and continuing adventures. Plein air painting competitions allow Sharon to exchange ideas and techniques with other like-minded artists and seem to happen at gorgeous locations.
Sharon holds a BA degree from Colorado State University in Art Education. She has taught elementary art and high school art. Her favorite workshop experiences have been with Charles Sovek, Jim Wilcox, Phil Levine, Carolynn Anderson, Gregg Beecham and Greg Wilson.
